Do FFXIV has a subscription model, what you are describing would not be viable for GW2. The point of FF giving more to free players is to convert them to paying players and have that subscription. Even if GW2 converts player to paying, it is still not a subscription, it is only a one time payment, so they can't afford to give much of it up. F2P is very generous in GW2. There are a couple convenience limitations to encourage you to buy the game (limited character and bag slots), but the fast majority of limitations are just there to reduce potential issues with bots (chat and trade limitations).
